Prescriptions & Refills

To ensure that we are able to fully assist our patients and process requests for prescription refills, we want to share some information that patients should refer to for every visit to Northeast Ohio Nephrology Associates.

• ALL patients, both new and existing, need to bring all current medications, OTC supplements and vitamins to EVERY appointment. Some providers request an updated written list, but we find that it is more efficient and reliable for our nephrology doctors to see the bottles, dosages, and ingredients for themselves. 

• Refills can be requested online, through our patient portal, or during an office visit. If refills are NOT requested during an office visit, and patients are unable to make the request online, there may be a 3 to 5 business day delay in getting the prescription refilled. 

• Northeast Ohio Nephrology Associates does NOT prescribe narcotics or refill prescriptions for narcotics and other controlled substances. These refill requests need to be handled through the prescribing physician’s office. We only refill prescriptions that we prescribe.

• Unless otherwise specified or requested by the patient’s insurance company, prescriptions will be filled as generic. To better facilitate refilling, patients should specify if they need a 30-day or a 90-day supply, along with a preferred pharmacy.

At Northeast Ohio Nephrology Associates, it is our goal to make prescription refilling easy and streamlined for our clients, and when we work together this is far easier to accomplish. For the most convenient, quickest access to patient records, test results, appointments, and prescription refill requests, patients can use our website to login to our patient portal. For patients who have not yet utilized this feature of our practice, we kindly request that they sign up for a portal account with our front desk staff. Once assigned an account, patients can easily login to request a prescription refill at their convenience.
